Comet San Jose: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new, consolidated facility.

July 18, 2024

On Friday, July 12th, our San Jose team gathered for a joyful ribbon-cutting ceremony and an all-company BBQ to celebrate the opening of our new, consolidated facility in Silicon Valley. This milestone strengthens Comet’s presence in the region and fosters even better collaboration.

This ceremony marked an important milestone for the San Jose team, allowing employees and community partners alike to reflect upon and celebrate Comet’s continued impactful presence in America for over 35 years, especially in the Silicon Valley - a location valued for its proximity to customers and at the heart of the semiconductor industry.

Jaclyn Bainton, General Manager North America, was joined by Comet's CEO Stephan Haferl, Joeri Durinckx (President Plasma Control Division), and Dionys van de Ven (President X-ray Systems Division), all of whom wielded scissors to cut the ribbon!

A huge thank you to all the teams who supported the organization of this special event, which was truly enjoyed by all.

"Our new workspace is a statement to our belief in creating an attractive, modern, and open environment that fosters innovation. It is a place where all ingredients are put together so creativity can flourish."

Country General Manager, North America

Curious question

We entered this facility a while ago. Why a ribbon cutting ceremony now?

Although Comet San Jose’s new, consolidated facility was officially open for business as of June of 2023, certain portions of the building remained under construction until only recently.

Comet is going (back) to space

April 14, 2025

At Comet, we believe progress starts with curiosity – and few frontiers spark it like space. That’s why we’re partnering with Project HERMES as a sponsor – supporting the student team at ARIS to build and launch a bi-liquid propulsion rocket at the European Rocketry Challenge (EuRoC) in 2025. If successful, it will be the first Swiss rocket of its kind to reach an altitude of 8000 m – a major milestone for student aerospace in Switzerland. From cryogenic propellants to guided recovery, HERMES is a showcase of what happens when curiosity meets collaboration. Just like in our own work, their success depends on precision, teamwork, and a drive to go beyond – values we share as they reach for the skies.
