It was so nice to see you again.

After 2.5 years Semicon West “finally” once again took place in a physical format. A good opportunity for us about to hear about the industry trends.
While attendants used the opportunity to meet customers, suppliers, contacts in person and discuss the most pressing issues, SemiWest provided a broad program of talks and presentations on the hottest topics in the semiconductor ecosystem:
New use cases
The conference showcased how new use cases in Medtech, AI, IoT, 5G and an accelerated digitization driven by Covid, have fueled never seen before demand for Semiconductor products.
Increased interest
It also highlighted how recent developments have broadened and increased the public’s interest in our industry and how nations plan on fostering local innovation.
Challenges
However, the conference also acknowledged the challenges this unprecedented demand is having on the industry: supply chain issues and the growing environmental impact were intensively discussed in several presentations.
Comet was on-site with Comet PCT and Yxlon teams
Our takeaway?
The industry is aware and part of the solution. While the challenges are there - the opportunities have never been bigger.

6 hours and countless lessons – our H2GP experience
May 14, 2025
This past weekend, it was finally time: we, the apprentices at Comet, lined up at the starting line of the 6h de Fribourg – a national race held as part of the Hydrogen Grand Prix (H2GP). After weeks of designing, testing, and teamwork, the big moment had arrived. And while the race turned out very differently than we’d hoped, it became an experience we won’t forget anytime soon.

At Comet, we believe progress starts with curiosity – and few frontiers spark it like space. That’s why we’re partnering with Project HERMES as a sponsor – supporting the student team at ARIS to build and launch a bi-liquid propulsion rocket at the European Rocketry Challenge (EuRoC) in 2025. If successful, it will be the first Swiss rocket of its kind to reach an altitude of 8000 m – a major milestone for student aerospace in Switzerland. From cryogenic propellants to guided recovery, HERMES is a showcase of what happens when curiosity meets collaboration. Just like in our own work, their success depends on precision, teamwork, and a drive to go beyond – values we share as they reach for the skies.
