BLOX – The digital health monitor for X-ray modules

July 29, 2025

Comet is proud to introduce BLOX, our new digital health monitor for X-ray components, developed by our X-ray modules team. As the first solution of its kind in the field of non-destructive testing, BLOX brings the power of Industrial IoT (Internet of Things), data intelligence, and remote monitoring to one of Comet’s core technologies, and with it, opens new possibilities for smarter, more reliable inspection. By combining deep system insights with advanced analytics, BLOX enables customers to take action before issues escalate – a significant step toward predictive maintenance and a fully connected, data-driven future.

The need for smarter maintenance

Industry 4.0 is changing the way machines are designed, built, and maintained. The rise of smart manufacturing and connected systems is creating a growing need for transparency, reliability, and uptime – especially in mission-critical industries like electronics, automotive and aerospace.

BLOX is our answer to this challenge. By tapping into the vast field data generated by our X-ray modules, BLOX delivers actionable insights that help prevent costly downtimes, lower support costs, and extend asset lifetime.

What BLOX does

After an X-ray module is installed and running in the field, BLOX securely collects and visualizes operating data through a web-based interface – and shows alerts in case of potential issues. X-ray System manufacturers (OEMs and Channel Partners) can then use this data to:

  • Prioritize and schedule service visits based on actual system usage and failure indicators
  • Reduce unnecessary service visits and lower support costs
  • Resolve customer issues remotely and faster with data-backed troubleshooting
  • Build stronger relationships with the end users through proactive support

  • Improve long-term performance of their installed systems
  • Strengthen their service offering and market positioning

For end users, the result is a more stable, reliable, and productive inspection process with minimal disruptions and lower total cost of ownership.

«BLOX turns raw data into business results — fewer disruptions, lower costs, more control.»

Innovation through collaboration

BLOX was developed through close collaboration across teams and continents: From Comet’s hardware and software engineers to data analysts, technical customer support and brand experts. Just as importantly, it was built with customers, not just for them. Feedback from pilot partners around the globe played a key role in shaping the platform and ensuring it meets real-world needs.

This project is a clear example of how we live our values: customer orientation, trustful collaboration, and a spirit to challenge and empower across every level of the company

Strengthening Comet’s digital edge

With BLOX, we are taking another confident step into the future by expanding our capabilities beyond hardware into the connected, intelligent systems space. It reinforces our strategic focus on high-tech growth markets, and our commitment to helping our customers stay competitive in a rapidly evolving world.

As we move from preventive to predictive maintenance, BLOX positions us at the forefront of digital innovation in X-ray inspection – and strengthens Comet’s role as an enabler of smarter industry.
