Bertrand Piccard & Solar Impulse Foundation
We are proud to have Bertrand Piccard, a true pioneer in technology and environment protection, at our side in our anniversary year.
Many of you might know him:
- Together with Brian Jones, Bertrand Piccard was the first person to circumnavigate the earth in a balloon in 1999.
- In 2015-2016, together with André Borschberg, he succeeded in circumnavigating the globe in a solar-powered aircraft, the Solar Impulse.
Based on his experiences, he founded the Solar Impulse foundation. A lever for him to actively promote the benefits of existing efficient technologies to motivate governments and industries to take action to address environmental challenges without compromising economic growth. To date, the Solar Impulse Foundation has identified, promoted and awarded 1450 sustainable technologies with the "Solar Impulse Efficient Solution".
